Chamber meeting

As many of you already know, this is my last month with Gallery-9. During the past couple of years I have cherished my association with the incredible talent that comprises the best gallery on the Olympic Peninsula.

This is my last official summary of the chamber proceedings as a representative of Gallery-9. I will continue to send updates through this blog if anything of importance is presented that can be of use to the membership.

Today's meeting was presented by former TV weatherman Andy Wappler. He is now the senior public relations consultant with Puget Sound Energy. Wappler talked about what PSE is doing in the field of wind turbine energy. PSE has turbines in eastern Washington and is planning more, enough to light 500k homes. The chaos of the changing climate dictates that energy companies look to ways of producing energy cheaper and with less impact on resources, such as, wind, nuclear and solar.

In your personal life anything that has a clock or a brain in it is drawing power. The vampires around your house, i.e., cell phone chargers, computers and the like are all sucking power off the grid. If it is warm, it is draining power. Unplug those little suckers and you will be sending less of your hard earned money to PSE. Changing your lighting to compact fluorescent tubes can save hundreds over the course of a year and especially over the prime energy months from November through April.
Don't forget the home show at the fairgrounds this weekend. PSE will have a booth set-up where you can have all your questions answered.
